Frank lived a pretty horific time when his family was retrograded, his father is in debt from the state and his mother wanted to divorce him. Frank feels like he lost everything and decided to flee home and go explore the world in order to regain his normal life.

He has to work with the FBI for the next 12 years. I don't like this deal because at the end, he works with the police which is inherently bad. Whenever the police is showed in its bright side, it's propaganda. And in this film, ultimately, the police are the good guys.
