augmentation durable de la production
Se calcule grâce au taux de croissance qui correspond aux variations du [[PIB]]
variations over time of [[PIB|GDP]]
Captures both country's economic activity and income
GDP per capita (divided by the total population) = useful to distinguish rich countries from poor countries
We can compare GDP each year to see if critical events happened
Rich countries have usually :
- lower poverty rates
- higher life expectancy
- higher literacy rates
- people are happier = money doesn't make you happy, but the absence of it does
But these variables are measured differently, it's just correlations
On average, [[démocratie représentative|representative democracy]] tend to have superior [[croissance économique|economic growth]] rate than [[dictatorship|dictatorships]]
Why ?
- Is it because they are democratic that these regimes have important growth rate ?
- or is it because they have important growth rate that they become democratic ? *[[Modernization theories]]*
It seems to go both ways
