the puzzle of self-sacrifice in suicide attacks
The fact that someone is sacrificing one's life of one's group is challenging our standard of human behavior :
- [[suicide]] terrorists deliberately act against their own interest of self-preservation
- From an [[evolutionary perspective]], you should not observe individual [[terrorisme|terrorism]] because they sacrifice their future opportunity for personal reproduction
Arguments against **religious [[croyance|beliefs]] making self-sacrifice attractive** (les croyances religieuses rendraient le suicide attirant)
But *brain-washing* should not exist based on evolutionary perspective. These genes should have disappeared. It is really strange.
Given the high number of people worldwide who report believing in access to heaven for martyrs, suicide attacks should happen every day.
0.00024% of Saudis were documented to have become suicide bombers in Irak. So this is something really rare.
Another explanation is that suicide terrorists are terrorists with suicidal tendencies
It is more explainable because if you have low chances of having a long lifetime, you may rationnaly commit suicide
**And from an evolutionnary perspective, if you may have a low prospect of reproduction and consider themselves a burden to their kin, may engage in self-destruction** (not necessarily suicide attacks)
Conjunction of two (low prospect of reproduction + consider themselves a burden to their kin) is relatively rare, that explains why there are so little number of suicide attacks
suicide rate in the [[État|country]] is predictive of suicide attacks
suicidal tendencies play a major role
*Being suicidal does not exclude altruistic or political motives*
In Palestine there was 4000 suicides between 1993 and 2019 and there was around 200 suicide attacks
