The budget of some groups can be more than billion dollars and it is a crucial determinant to the outcome of the [[guerre|war]]
[[guerre civile|civil wars]] break out when [[rebel groups]] can't fund themselves
[[guerre civile|civil wars]] need to be funded because they are very expensive, and there are several funding sources :
- *foreign funding* (e.g., USA, USSR during the [[guerre froide]]. Ideological friendship)
- *natural ressources* (ex : petroleum in Iraq)
- *other organizations* such as [[Al-Qaïda]] can fund other [[guerre civile|civil wars]]
The Occidental Asia is vulnerable because they are a lot of funders
The islamic [[État|state]] funded itself with petroleum so their opponents decided to bomb infrastructures so the EI couldn't keep the [[guerre|war]] on going.
The more actors you have in [[guerre civile|civil wars]], the longer it is going to last
**What happen when the group can't fund itself with the two precedent methods ?**
-> it disappears
ou alors
-> they can engage in *criminal activities* like Boko Haram which is right now a really powerful organization. It happened because they were operating in desert, far from the [[État|state]]. They weren't too much disturbed by the [[État|state]]. Some locals give [[monnaie|money]] to Boko Haram to not be attacked.
Another factor that helped them was the "end" of the [[guerre civile|civil war]] in Libya. It created a surplus of weapon and combattants so Boko Haram could acquire them at a very reasonable price.
